Investment manager Nuveen today announced the appointment of Nick Moss as head of Nature Based Solutions within its country-focused asset management platform Nuveen Natural Capital (NNC).
Based in London, Moss will be responsible for driving NNC’s investment strategy for nature-based solutions across agricultural land, forestry and ecological restoration, with a focus on reducing the environmental impact and carbon footprint of commercial manufacturing processes, as well as protecting existing and restoring damaged habitats.
Skye Macpherson, Global Head of Asset Management, said:
“Nick has a wealth of experience in natural capital investments and strong relationships with business, financial institutions, donors, governments and development finance institutions. He will play a critical role in further growing our natural capital and nature-based solutions offering, and in providing the technical expertise to manage our businesses efficiently, sustainably and to the highest standards.”
The appointment follows Nuveen’s launch of NNC last year, as part of the company’s Real Assets platform. The unit currently manages $12.4 billion in assets and more than three million hectares across ten countries.
Moss brings more than 15 years of experience leading investment and technical advisory services in forestry, agriculture and climate finance. Before joining Nuveen, he led the design and implementation of the AGRI3 strategy, a Rabobank and UNEP initiative aimed at mobilizing $1 billion in public and private investments in forest conservation and sustainable agriculture. In this role, Moss led the team in the design, fundraising, creation and portfolio management of sustainable agriculture and nature-based climate solutions in Latin America, Asia and Africa for the company. Previously, he held positions at Adam Smith International and PwC.
“As interest in real assets continues to grow, Nuveen is well positioned to offer a wide range of specialist investments to investors, based on a long-term and sustainable investment philosophy that aims to provide investors with access to alpha-driven strategies.”
